Virginia Beach Schools of the Future
Bettie F. Williams 4-5 and Bayside 6th Grade Campus
The Bettie F. Williams Elementary School and the Bayside 6th Grade Campus will come together in a new school for 850 students in grades 4 through 6. The new school will be located on the current 18-acre Bettie F Williams site along Newtown Road with Newtown and Diamond Springs Elementary Schools on what is referred to as the “Tri-Campus.” The project is currently being considered as a phased construction project, whereby the open area of the site will be completely separated from the existing school facilities, enabling safe construction of the new school in the open area of the site while the existing Bettie F. Williams Elementary School, as well as other two schools, remain in operation. After the new school is complete and staff and students have moved in, the old school will be demolished and turned into new parking and play fields. After the Bayside 6th Grade Campus students move into the new school, the former Aragona Elementary School along Jericho Road will be demolished.
